Once we implemented the new SEO strategy and fixed the issues highlighted in the SEO audit the organic traffic began to climb after month 3. The busiest time for the Chesterfield Sofa Company is October to January when customers are ordering their new sofas for Christmas and during the January sales. As the target keywords started to rank on page 1 the traffic started to gain momentum from September 2017, peaking with 4600 visitors in January 2017, resulting in a 50% increase in sales.

Although there was a drop in traffic in February 2017,  due to shopping trends, the site was still acquiring traffic 1000 more visitors in May 2017 compared to May 2016. From July 2017 onwards more keywords were ranking highly in Google, including the coveted “chesterfield sofas” keyword. At one point the Chesterfield Sofa Company was ranking higher than John Lewis and DFS during their busiest periods which resulted in organic traffic peaking at 6000 in January 2018 and another 50% increase in sales. (Please note that this is just the organic search traffic and over the 24 months there was even more traffic from links and direct visits.)

Over the 24 month period, the SEO campaign drove over 72,000 visitors from organic search to the website. To achieve the same amount of visitors using Google Ads (pay-per-click) it would have cost the client an extra £68,400.
